Surviving my first 100 mile ultramarathon

“I wanted to come to America because they put men on the moon.” — Le Keoninh

In the early 1980s, my parents fled their homeland Laos, which was torn apart by a civil war. After two years in a Thai refugee camp, they were given choices of safe harbor: Le, my father, chose the United States. Always a dreamer, he let the stars guide his way.

One of America’s greatest feats serves as inspiration for me. Putting men on the moon showed my father how technology could influence humanity, and I decided to devote my skills and energy to the current shifts happening in the world. It guided my work as an individual contributor to drive growth and innovation by challenging conventions across various platforms. As a result, I partner with companies to clarify their business agenda by obsessing over users and their most pain-staking challenges.

Currently, I’m helping a stealth startup design an automated monitoring system for restaurants. My past life include creating experiences for a prediction market exchange at Kalshi, helping Calendly reach $100M ARR as part of their first 100 employees, co-founding a start-up called Phiona, directing digital design at MOON & ICON and designing at HUGE.

Outside of work, I spend my free time training for ultramarathons, learning about biology, learning new ways to cook (former sushi chef), writing basketball podplays, and occasionally working as an award-winning commercial photographer/director.
